Essential community services get boost, but more to be done

ACCPA is calling for increased funding to sustain essential community services and ensure older Australians can age independently in their own homes.

Over the past year, ACCPA has engaged extensively with the Department of Health and Aged Care and the Government on critical issues related to community services, including funding, transition, and the implementation of the Support at Home program.

“ACCPA has consistently called for sustainable funding and adequate support to ensure the delivery of quality care during the transition to Support at Home,” said ACCPA CEO Tom Symondson.

Bill heralds a new era of transparency for retirement living in South Australia

The passing of the Retirement Villages Amendment Bill through both houses of the South Australian Parliament last night will herald a new era of increased transparency for retirement living in the state, according to the Aged and Community Care Providers Association (ACCPA).

Contracts now require clear definitions of terms, rights and responsibilities with detailed explanations.

Financial reporting and consultation processes with residents have also been strengthened.

The Aged and Community Care Providers Association (ACCPA) has hailed the passing of the new Aged Care Act today as a historic moment for Australia’s ageing population.

After the Senate passed the Aged Care Bill on Friday, the Lower House enshrined the Act into law today.

ACCPA hails passing of the Aged Care Bill in the Senate as a watershed moment for older Australians

The Aged and Community Care providers Association (ACCPA) has welcomed the passing of the Aged Care Bill in the Senate, paving the way for a new Act, as a watershed moment for older Australians.

A new, rights-based Aged Care Act was the number one recommendation of the Royal Commission into Aged Care, something that aged care providers fully supported. Once passed in the Lower House, the new Act will deliver on dozens of other recommendations made by the Royal Commission, all aimed at creating a better system for the future.
