Older Minds Matter: Understanding the Importance of Person-Centred Care

Workshop overview:

Person-centred care enhances the overall quality of care and fosters a sense of empowerment and independence for the older person.   Person-centred care prioritises the person rather than the condition or care requirements thereby creating a more holistic and fulfilling experience for the older person.    

Who should attend: 

Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) aged care workers, team leaders, supervisors, care coordinators and CHSP Volunteers.   

Outcomes of this workshop:

  • Understanding how this approach recognises and respects the diverse backgrounds and unique experiences that influence the level of care 
  • Understanding how person-centred care aligns with the older person’s values encouraging independence and a sense of empowerment 
  • How person-centred care contributes to physical, emotional and social wellbeing. 
  • The significance of person-centred care within the Aged Care Quality Standards and the new Support at Home Program 

About the facilitator:

Robyn Miller is an independent training provider for ‘Mental Health & Wellbeing Training Solutions’ and has extensive experience in the mental health sector. Robyn is a passionate trainer and advocate for positive mental health and for recovery from mental illness. 

 Robyn is an accredited ‘Master Instructor’ with Mental Health First Aid Australia, delivers education and training and has a special interest in the mental health of older Australians. Employed in the mental health sector since 2005 in education, teaching, training and peer roles.   

 Her extensive experience in government and non-government mental health sectors, and her lived experience provides ‘value added mental health training with a difference’ which is continually acknowledged through very positive customer and trainee feedback.

Cancellations, Refunds, Substitutions and Transfers:

ACCPA’s Learning and Professional Development (L&PD) products are delivered subject to sufficient registrations, as stipulated by available tickets against each event, and tickets can be purchased directly from the What’s On page.

Training session viability of each advertised session is assessed one week prior to the scheduled date of delivery, when a decision is made regarding continuation or cancellation. When a training session is cancelled due to insufficient numbers or circumstances outside of the control of ACCPA, a full refund will be paid, directly to the customer who has made the initial purchase.

A full refund is also available if a participant withdraws from a training session, 5 or more days prior to the session being delivered, on the condition, that the customer has contacted , to inform regarding their intention to withdraw. No refunds or transfers will be considered without notification prior to the commencement of a training session. Late notifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

An organisation may choose to substitute a participant of a previously paid session, by emailing , 24 hours prior to the commencement of the training session. Full details of the substituted participant must be provided.

Payment Terms

It is a condition of registration that participants pay full payment at the time of booking via credit card or by invoicing by prior arrangement. 

All payments must be finalised prior to commencement. Registrants who have outstanding payments will not be able to participate. Upon registration, a Tax Invoice will be emailed to the person making the booking.
