Reconciliation Action Plan

ACCPA acknowledges the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognises their continuing connection to land, sea, waters and community. We pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and to Elders past and present.

Sharon Wood-Kenney (centre) welcomes ACCPA CEO Tom Symondson and RAP Committee representatives Julie Anderson, Belinda Allen and Liz Behjat to the Swan River (Kaya Kep).

ACCPA Reconciliation Action Plan

As an organisation with national reach, we recognise the contribution of Elders and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across Australia and support driving change and reconciliation. ACCPA is committed to taking meaningful action to protect and enhance the health and wellbeing for all older Australians – this includes ensuring safe and culturally inclusive care for older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in our community and broader aged care sector.

Through the development of ACCPA’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) we strive to embed cultural awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in our culture and support the principles and purpose of reconciliation. On completion (anticipated this year – 2024), ACCPA will join a diverse network of more than 2,700 organisations that are committed to sustainably and strategically taking meaningful action to advance reconciliation and increase cultural safety and awareness in the workplace and beyond.

Our RAP is currently in development with our RAP Committee, and our journey is being supported by Sharon Wood-Kenney. Sharon is a proud Noongar Yamatji woman, the inaugural chairwoman for the City of Joondalup’s Reconciliation Action Plan community reference group and the founder and General Manager of the Djinda Bridiya Wellbeing Australian Aboriginal Organisation Foundation. ACCPA’s RAP Committee consists of eight staff from across Australia and is led by Belinda Allen, ACCPA General Manager – Services and Sector Capacity. If you have questions about the development of our RAP please don’t hesitate to contact us.
